Step 1

Hi there! Glad you're here!

You know it's easier sometimes to learn from other people's mistakes especially in films. It saves us from the embarrassment they get to endure for us. Kidding...kinda...

In the movie 'Hitch' there's a character, Albert, who's a decent guy but is often overlooked. He doesn't have a lot of confidence. Then along comes a girl...and he surprises even himself.

Go to the video icon above to see what happens when you expect less from people.

Let us know what you thought about the clip from 'Hitch' when you've finished.

Step 2

Low self esteem made Albert think he'd blown it when he actually made his dream girl respect him.

Can you see how the inability to accept that you're good enough just the way you are leads to low expectations and a perception that's off?

Step 3

Describe a time when you've made a similar mistake as Albert.

Step 4

What do you think about the advice Hitch had to let it marinate for a second before acting?

Step 5

How often do you think you're able to stop and think before you act?

Step 6

What do you think prevents you from chilling before reacting?

Step 7

Today, when you encounter a situation that initially confuses, angers or confounds you, let it marinate for a second.

If this pertains to you, train your brain to expect a better outcome not a worse one. Use the same tips from recent navitents:

*Stop
*Stand tall
*Head up
*Shoulders back
*Remember who you are - and that's a good thing
*Don't fidget
*Smile confidently
*Ask - don't assume
*Listen
*Respond

Add one more tip:
*Expect a better outcome

See if this interaction differs from any of your previous ones.

Are you willing to give it a try?

Step 8

How much differently do you think situations will turn out if you expect something better before you even begin?

Step 9

Have a great day!

We look forward to hearing about it tomorrow.
