Summary:

Step 1

Hi!

Your task yesterday (Day 14) was to do something kind for someone who, on the surface, had nothing in common with you.

Did you do it?

If not, keep going with the steps, but look for a situation today to do something kind for someone else.

Step 2

If you followed through, what was your kind act?

Step 3

How did the exercise make you feel?

Step 4

How did the other person respond, and how did that make you feel?

Step 5

The title of this step is 'Secret Weapon'. Have you figured out the secret weapon yet?

If so, what is it?

Step 6

The Golden Rule. That's the weapon.

Treat others as you would like to be treated. Being a good friend to yourself starts with treating self and others with decency and respect. It breeds integrity.

When you walk what you talk, then you have integrity. It also means being quick to forgive others when they mess up, just like you'd want to be forgiven.

Integrity is doing the right thing regardless of the outcome or the pressure to do otherwise.

Just like movie or book characters, most of us didn't start out with integrity. We just learned that something was missing without it. Eventually, our journey showed us that our walk and talk must line up, or we would be in constant confusion, frustration and, well, drama.

How much integrity do you believe you have?

Step 7

Give an example of a time you showed integrity by treating others as you would want them to treat you.

Step 8

Recall an instance when you could have shown integrity but didn't.

It's not the end of the world. In fact, we've all had those experiences. The great thing is that we're presented with do-overs every day.

Explain what you would do differently if given a second chance.

Step 9

For a visual of this concept, go to the library or stream one of the following movies:
*Coach Carter
*The Kid (with Bruce Willis)
*Akeelah and the Bee
*Schindler’s List
*The Gift

Are you willing to see one of the films?
