Step 1

Welcome back!

Start off by heading to the video icon to hear recording artist, Lenny Kravitz, explain his take on a 'Love Revolution' in the everyday lives of people.

Tell us what you thought when you're done.

Step 2

Read these lyrics from Mr. Kravitz's song. Select "successful" when you've finished.

This is the time
This is the vibe
Don't you want to get onto the ride
Come on inside
From the outside
The truth will set you free and you will find
That there is a love
That won't let you down
And it always holds ground
Wear your crown
This love will never leave you
This love will never let you go

It is time for a love revolution
It is time for a new constitution

You are a child of the Most High
There's nothing you can't do and that's no lie
You were designed to use your mind
To move what you can't see so don't be blind
'Cause there is a love
That won't let you down and it always holds ground
Wear your crown
This love will never leave you
This love will never let you go

It is time for a love revolution
It is time, it is time, for a new constitution

It is time, it is time, for a love revolution
Love revolution

Step 3

Mr. Kravitz, says it's time for "a love revolution."

What he means is a radically different way of looking at yourself and others that would be foundational for love and respect.

It starts with the way you view yourself, the way you value and treat yourself and the way you allow others to treat you.

How do you feel about the notion of radically changing the way you value and treat yourself and allow others to treat you?

Step 4

Mr. Kravitz also says it's time for "a new constitution." That's a foundation, a consistent way of thinking and behaving.

In the video he explains that we need to have a foundation for thinking and behaving toward one another that is loving, considerate, and supportive.

*It means to stop making assumptions and holding grudges.

*It means to be honest, go to the person and ask questions if we don't understand why someone said or did something that hurt us.

*It means giving others the benefit of the doubt.

What ideas listed above would you most like to use to build a foundation for the way you'd like to treat others and to be treated yourself? Or feel free to add a new one.

Step 5

Let's be real. People will occasionally fail you. That's understandable. No one is even close to perfect, and we have to give each other some room around that.

But look at the other side.

Have you noticed that there have been times in your life when people just showed up?

Maybe strangers were in your life long enough to help you out of a jam. Maybe there was a mentor or teacher or neighbor or social worker or a foster parent or a coach who was kind when you needed it most.

Have you considered why good people came into your life at key moments throughout your upbringing?

Think about that. Their actions were loving. Why? Why you? It was because you were worth it to them.

How much do you believe you deserve this kind of consideration on a regular basis?

Step 6

Now go pay it forward and be that encouragement to someone who looks like they could use it.

We all could use it.
