Summary:
Welcome back! We're glad you decided to keep going with us! Today we're going to start things off by asking ourselves questions you can probably relate to. It's perfectly natural to ask: Do dreams ever come true? Will anything really change for me? How do I connect to my vision? If I become this or that (fill in the blank), will I have the respect that's due me? Some of us have had to rely on survival instincts for so long, we have trouble envisioning our future selves. Our current circumstances may cast doubts on what our future could look like. In your heart of hearts, do you really think it has to be this way? Think hard about this question before you respond.
How much excitement do you feel when you think about coming to understand your dreams and how much they're linked to the best part of you?
Describe what your life would be like if you could do anything you wanted to do and had all the resources to do it. Nothing could stand in your way.
We need an unobstructed vision of our dreams without any hurdles. It helps us know what to aim for. At the same time, real life's hurdles have their value too. They serve to make us stronger, wiser, more compassionate and determined - if we let them. We urge you not to give up. Very little is insurmountable when we begin dreaming and putting practical plans into place to achieve our vision. The late Sir Winston Churchill, the courageous and colorful British Prime Minister during WWII, had this to say, "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER Give Up!" He also said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Passion for your destiny can reignite in an instant. Sometimes, it simply needs the right question. Would you agree that the question is "How badly do I want this?"
Watch the video with Adm. William McRaven, Commander of the Navy Seals. Tell us what you thought about his advice when you've finished.
In the space provided, write yes or no if you do the following: 1- start each day with a task completed (Do you make your bed every day?) 2- find someone to help you through life 3- respect everyone 4- know that life is not fair and you will fail often 5- take risks 6- step up in difficult times 7- face down bullies 8- lift up the downtrodden 9- never ever give up 10-believe that if you do these things as a discipline and with passion, then you will affect the next generation and the generation that follows, helping them live in a far better world than the one we have today.
Are you up for the challenge?
Which steps will you do starting tomorrow morning? Don't forget to make your bed ;-)
