Summary: Investing in the fruit of peace.

Step 1

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Peace?

Step 2

Pick an experience from your past when your level of peace and serenity was at it's highest. Take a moment to relive that experience in your mind.

When you are ready, describe the experience in the space provided. (Note: when doing this task multiple times, it's okay to use the same circumstance more than once).

Step 3

In contrast, write down a situation and/or person you are dealing with right now that is causing you stress, aggravation, tiredness or that you are preoccupied with in your thoughts.

Step 4

Now place your answer in Step 3 on an imaginary scale that measures levels of stress, aggravation and preoccupation on a range of 1-10.

How much does this issue currently weigh?

Step 5

Read Matthew 11:20-30:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Allow this verse to penetrate.

Select 'Successful' when you are ready to proceed.

Step 6

Jesus tells us that the first step in unloading our burdens is to: "Come to me..."

Take time now to communicate your weariness and burdens directly to the living Christ.

If you like, imagine that He is sitting across from you and that He is listening intently as you speak.

Select the 'Successful' response when you have finished telling Him all that is on your mind.

Step 7

After coming to Him, Jesus informs us: "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

A yoke is defined as: "A frame designed to be carried across a person's shoulders with equal loads suspended from each end."

For those who are willing to come to Him with their weariness and burdens, Jesus says of Himself: "I am gentle and humble in heart."

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what it means to "take His yoke upon you" and what He specifically wants you to learn from doing so.

Write down any revelation you receive.

Step 8

Go to 'DOCUMENTS' and read Oswald Chamber's insights on Matthew 11:20-30.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 9

Close your eyes and imagine that you and Jesus are taking on your burden together. In fact, the problem has brought you and Jesus closer together.

As you view the difficulty, proclaim: "HIS YOKE IS EASY AND HIS BURDEN IS LIGHT".

Stay with this until you begin to experience the issue becoming increasing easier and its burden less heavy.

Select the 'Successful' response when you are finished.

Step 10

Take a moment to thank Jesus for the 'pressure of His hand' that has brought the two you closer together.

Step 11

Carefully place the issue from Step 3 back on the scale. How much does it weigh now?

Step 12

If the weight differential is 2 or less, continue by repeating Steps 5 through 10 until you have achieved a minimum weight loss of 3.

Select 'Successful' when you have achieved a weight loss of 3 or more.

Step 13

When you are ready, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in how to handle this situation going forward.

Write down any revelation you receive.

Step 14
